Help SJMA staff with field trips and other educational programs for local schools. Our education programs during the school year rely on support from volunteers like you! Your time helps us create more 1:1 learning opportunities for youth and keeps group size small. Volunteers are welcome to assist SJMA staff or lead education on their own if they feel comfortable.
Our educational programs will be in Cortez at Sand Canyon, at the Nature Center in Durango, and at Haviland Lake or Andrews Lake, depending on snow conditions. All education volunteers need to undergo a background check with SJMA. Program time is listed and does not include your travel to get there. You can carpool with SJMA staff in the program van with advance notice. For the winter programs, please bring your own snowshoes or let us know if you need to borrow ours.
